During the early days of the church, the Christians took care of one another, sharing their homes and food. However, the Grecians complained to the apostles that their widows were not being properly cared for. The apostles told the disciples in Jerusalem to choose seven men to take care of the physical needs of the church while they focused on the spiritual matters. This was the beginning of the work of deacons in the Lord's church.
The first four pages illustrate the story in Acts 6:1-7. Page 5 shows the qualifications of deacons found in 1 Timothy 3. Having the lesson and application in one visual keeps preparation easy for the Bible class teacher.
