Rehoboam became king of Israel when his father, Solomon died. Jeroboam lead ten tribes to challenge Rehoboam’s leadership. He offered Rehoboam the loyalty of the people if he would make their lives easier than Solomon had made them. Rehoboam asked for three days to make his decision. During those three days, he listened to different groups of people. At the end of the three days, he choose to listen to advice from his peers instead of the advice from Solomon’s counselors.
Listening to bad advice from peers is a common practice today. Use this "ear” visual to discuss what is good advice and what is bad advice—no matter who offers it!
